Safety Goggles - Identify Your Type

If your work involves the use of chemicals or if you deal with drilling or come in contact with minute particles of wood or other metals, safety goggles are just for you. Safety goggles are providing with side shields and thus they disallow any foreign material to enter the eyes. Some of these foreign agents are so dangerous that there contact with the eyes may result in permanent loss of vision. There are various jobs that deal with sparks such as welding. In such cases, it is always advised to wear safety goggles. This category of PPE is highly impact resistant and thus cannot be broken easily. Regular glasses in some cases do protect the eyes from injuries but they may not be strong enough to bear the force applied by sharp objects and may break which can result in the injury. After having understood the importance of wearing safety goggles, let us now look at various types of safety goggles and their uses:
Direct Vented Goggles- Direct vented goggles have openings in the vented area of the goggles that allow the air to pass through. Objects that are more than 0.06 inches cannot enter the open space. For Jobs that are not prone to chemical splashes or sparks, direct vented goggles can be used.

Indirect Vented Goggles- Jobs that require the regular handling of chemicals or oil which can result in splashes, indirect vented goggles can be used. These type of goggles have vents that do not allow the entry of splashes. No straight line passage of chemicals can take place in such goggles.

Non Vented Goggles- Non vented goggles do not have any vent and they provide protection against vapour, liquid and mist. The non availability of vents in such goggles keeps the passage of vapours and mists away.

In labs, most of the people wear prescription glasses but that is not enough. Today, safety goggles are designed in such a way that they can easily be worn over safety glasses. Chemical splashes in laboratories cannot be kept away simply by using prescription glasses. Here comes the need to wear safety goggles. Also, when people work with materials that remain under constant pressure such as spring, safety goggles can be used.Overall, it can clearly be made out that exposure to dust, dirt, flying objects and chemicals can prove to be extremely dangerous and so the eyes must be taken care of by using safety goggles which are specially designed for such purposes. It is always good to clean the goggles after use. Unlearned goggles may carry germs which can harm you in the future use. Buy safety goggles for the protection of your eyes from foreign hazardous particles and chemicals. You can also buy safety goggles online and opt for the one that works well with your job.
